This February we are proud to present “Thank You, Sir Charles” at The GRAND. Curated by The GRAND’s Poet in Residence and Calgary’s Poet Laureate, Wakefield Brewster, this multidisciplinary production is a celebration of Black History Month and a showcase of black artists and artistry. This cabaret will feature tap dance from Lisa La Touche and a special screening of her film ‘TRAX’, as well as poetry and spoken word performances by Wakefield Brewster, Chris L. Butler, Tanecia Cromwell, aloT of Poetry , and Sholley Powell.
Following the production, everyone is invited to join us for a panel discussion and Q&A with the artists, moderated by Wakefield Brewster.
This special screening and panel discussion are a part of The GRAND’s 2023 Artist Resiliency Program (ARP) to help build capacity in the Calgary artistic community as well as help support and connect artists from Equity Deserving communities. This program is made possible with the support of the Government of Canada and Funding from Canadian Heritage (@cdn.heritage).
