TD Incubator Program Cohort 2021/2022

The dust has settled after a societal racial reckoning – but the voices within it remain loud, vital, and changed. Now Listen: A Black Poet’s Message is a celebration of Calgary’s new Black poets across musical and spoken word genres after a time of extreme upheaval, consciousness, loss, and growth. Reflecting on the diversity of Black experience in the prairies through spoken and sung poetry, four performers leave behind their learnings for the next generation under the curation of Arts Commons' 2021-22 TD Incubator Fellow: rapper, filmmaker, and visual artist, Jae Sterling.

Filmed live at the Engineered Air Theatre in Arts Commons as part of the 2021-22 season of Arts Commons Presents, Now Listen: A Black Poet’s Message features performances by KTheChosen, Priscille Bukasa, Uyemi, and Zaire Ink.
