I have just completed my first tour around the sun, as your Poet Laureate of YYC.
I have never been so excited, I have never been so active, I have never by any community, let alone a city - been so embraced.
From Flurries of Facilitations to Features as a Finale, I am overwhelmed at the varieties of venues and visions I’ve been invited to invest in.
Equally, I am extremely grateful for the opportunities to assist my beloved Poetry Community and Arts Community, at large.
I will strive to provide more stages and forums for Poets to be discovered and remain active.
This is in the spirit of curating community.
As a Poet-In-Residence, I intend to remain ardent as an advocate for literacy via Poetry, and Page2StageProductions would like to Thank every Educator that has had the faith to invite me in.
This is in the spirit of remaining a Positive Disruption in the literary evolution of our Younger Generations.
Thank You, CAD to Calgary, all that surrounds, and all that is within.
In a year, I will no longer be your Poet Laureate.
However, I will forever be Your Poet Of The People.

Gather’ round, for today we have a poet of epic sound. He’s a master of the spoken word, a lyrical genius whose verses will be heard. I’m talking about none other than Wakefield Brewster, the one they call Da Lyrical Pitbull!
His words are like music to the ears, a symphony of emotions. He’s here to share his wisdom and his art, to touch your hearts and ignite a spark. He’s a poet, an educator, producer, and literacy advocate, the one whose been crowned Calgary’s 6thPoet Laureate.
You’re in for a treat CAA friends, a journey through words that will transport you to new ends. He’ll take you on a ride, though his own thought-provoking soul, a tapestry that will make you feel whole. He’s a true ambassador of Calgary’s diverse community, his verses a mirror of its beauty and its unity.
So, let’s give a round of applause, and let his words be the cause, to awaken the poet within each of us. We will celebrate our humanity, and life live with more trust, to chase our dreams with all our might, never giving up, and never losing sight.
