I am writing to you today on behalf of Wakefield Brewster for the position of Calgary Poet Laureate. In my limited but informative time knowing Wakefield I have learned a great deal about the poetry community in Calgary. He speaks passionately and articulates well the desires and needs he experiences with this community and how we the members of Calgary can assist in keeping this valuable art alive.

            Working with Wakefield , he is a diligent man meticulous with details and insistent on perfection for his clientele. I feel extremely confident referring my patients to him for massage needs and know that my patients will be taken care of with the utmost respect and integrity.  He takes the privacy of his clients seriously and safe guards any details shared with him. Due to these qualities Wakefield has shown he can be trusted in a variety of situations regardless of the sensitivity of the matter and understands the weight of responsibility when he is bestowed with it.

            Wakefield has inspired me to open up my old notebooks of my own writing and poetry and though by no means do I have the talent he possesses; he reminds me that the art of spoken word or perhaps even written is integral to all humans regardless of their perceived "talent" and should be cultivated and created into something enjoyable and inspiring; not to self criticize and judge.  I am now taking more energy and effort to develop these skills so I too can reach those who need their own inspiration and joy.  The supportive nature of Wakefield and his patience to assist where needed, he would add a touch of humanity, nurturing and compassion in addition to his accuracy, enthusiasm and expressive nature to any and all interactions warranted by this organization and position.

            Determined and passionate, relatable and charismatic, regardless of the challenge, Wakefield is up for the match. I would highly recommend him for the position of Poet Laureate as he would be a valuable asset for the Calgary community as a whole to embrace and learn from.
