The process-focus is to have the students discover, and engage in a world of words that they never knew existed around them, and inside of them.
The goal-focus is to guide them towards at least one, to perhaps, several pieces of completed Poetry, and possibly, have some students wishing to share their work with the rest of their peers.
The ongoing focus is to leave a lasting impression that words are indeed powerful; powerful enough to change the world around them, at all times, in all ways.

LearningCITY 2023. Connecting Calgary's Talent Community.
Event Details:
LearningCITY 2023. Connecting Calgary's Talent Community.
Imagine a city whose citizens think creatively, adapt, and thrive in this fast-changing world. A city where bright minds come together to dream big, start an adventure, and build something great. A city where people proactively develop new skills and are ahead of change, not chasing it. Imagine a city that attracts talent and investment from across the globe because it’s known as a city that is not only resilient but a city that embraces change, a city that learns. This is a LearningCITY.
Transforming Calgary into a LearningCITY demands that we rethink learning and recognize that learning extends beyond a classroom and is embedded where we work, live, and play. This forces us to redefine how we assess and value talent. This requires us to harness Calgary’s rich and diverse learning-employment ecosystem, encompassing 3,000 learning organizations and 55,000 employers.
This is why the theme for LearningCITY 2023 is Connecting Calgary’s Talent Community.
Committed to Action
At LearningCITY 2022, the LearningCITY Collective and our community partners released Calgary’s Skills Development Framework. This framework was the culmination of four years of community consultation.
The framework is anchored to four drivers: adaptable, accessible, empowered, and open. Each priority is defined as a series of specific priorities and actions.

Calgary’s Mental Health and Addiction Strategy
About this event
Calgary’s Mental Health and Addiction Strategy creates hope and strengthens support for people, families and communities in Calgary living with mental health and addictions issues. It takes a person-centered and compassionate approach to supporting Calgarians to Be Well, Get Help and Stay Safe.
Having the right support at the right time is critical for preventing and addressing mental health and addiction issues for Calgarians. Improving access and coordination of supports is key to developing a continuum of care for Calgarians.
Join us on November 6 as we explore the issue of access and report back on the implementation of Calgary's Mental Health and Addiction 2021-2023 Action Plan. This one-day event will bring together Calgary-based organizations for an information sharing and networking event.
Upon Conclusion of the event, Poet Laureate Wakefield Brewster, will present a PPI (Professional Poetic Interpretation) as an Artistic Response

Seven Women. Seven Elders. Women who have endured, loved, lost and celebrated life in their own way.
Hear these women and their experiences and how they came to realize, despite their diversity, their similar concerns about the future of our families, our planet and its people, and the incredible network of life that keeps it all going.
It’s about seeing the world through different eyes, perspectives and focus. This dynamic stage production shifts and changes from scene to scene and voice to voice.
These women work together, through the similarities within their differences, to move forward on healing Mother Earth.
